Both Owen and Lori graduated from Phillips University, and Owen completed his Master of Divinity degree at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. Both of Owen's parents, Dick and Lura Cayton, are Phillips graduates and ordained ministers. They live in Oklahoma City; Lura is serving the Church World Service office for Disaster Response and Recovery, at the Regional Office of the Christian Church. Lori's parents, Judy and Loren Krase, live in Tulsa; Judy works for Phillips Theological Seminary.
Owen and Lori, have two sons: Toviel (Hebrew for "God is good") and Mattai (Hebrew for "Gift from God").
