Life Adult Day Center

The Life Center is an independent non-profit organization that operates in the east end of the education wing at First Christian Church.

Purpose

The Life Center helps mentally and/or physically impaired adults to maintain or improve their level of functioning in order to remain in the community. Adult day services are provided in a protective group setting.

Services

The services provided are based on individual needs and interests. These services may include:

Physical therapy
Speech therapy
Adapted Activities
Re-motivation and memory therapy
Exercise
Noon meals and snacks
Special diets
Medication administration
Health monitoring and education
Assistance with personal care
Social services
Supervision

Eligibility

Eligible individuals include:

Individuals recovering from stroke or other illness.
Individuals with impaired memory or judgment (such as Alzheimer's Disease).
Individuals with emotional disorders.
Older people living alone, or with family, who would benefit from socialization and companionship.

Staff

Life Center staff includes the Director, Program Coordinator, Health Services Coordinator, Recreation Therapists, Physical Therapists, Certified Program Assistants, Registered Nurse, and a Licensed Dietician.

Hours

The Life Center operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Participants may come on a regular schedule for all or any part of a day or week or on a drop-in basis.

Cost

A daily or hourly fee applies, which is based on a sliding scale and ability to pay.

Funding

The Life Center is licensed by the Oklahoma Department of Health and is directed by a board of local, concerned citizens. Funding sources include Eldercare, Stillwater United Way, the Department of Human Services, participant fees, and donations. Facilities for operation are provided by First Christian Church.
