OSU Student Fellowship

The Disciples Student Fellowship (DSF) provides fellowship opportunities for OSU students at First Christian Church. Some DSF activities include:

• Dinner, free for OSU students, at the 6:00 Wednesday Night Fellowship.
• Support and encouragement for student retreats.
• Care packages for students before final exams.

The Stillwater Disciples Women, also known as Christian Women's Fellowship (DW/CWF), includes all adult female members of First Christian Church, whether or not they actively participate in this fellowship. The purpose of the Disciples Women's organization is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education, and creative ministries that enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Groups

The Disciples Women consists of five groups. Each woman in the church chooses or is assigned to one of these groups. Included in the activities of each group is the responsibility to oversee the emergency needs of its members, such as providing food or funeral receptions at the time of family bereavement.

These groups also perform such services for church members who do not have a Disciples Women connection, such as single or widowed men. Following are the five current groups in 2007, along with their group presidents and telephone numbers:

• Dorcas Group: Judy Ringwall, 372-9471.
• Esther Group: Idamae Mattheyer, 372-2887.
• Martha-Naomi Group: Marilyn Gibson, 372-8089.
• Priscilla Group: Carrie Shirley, 377-6003.
• Ruth Group: Judy Hutchison, 372-1938.

Meetings

On the first Wednesday of each month (except August), the general DW/CWF meets at the church. These meetings typically include a lunch, followed by a program. Check out the revised June 2008 news. For 2008/2009, President is Jodelle Stout, and Program Chairman is Joy Evans.

Most individual groups meet on the third Wednesday of each month, either in members' homes or at the church.

Service Projects

The DW/CWF participates in a wide variety of service projects, including:

• Distribution of baby and children's clothing, sewing kits, health kits, and blankets to disaster areas in many countries.
• Providing for the needs of a variety of nursing homes and hospitals, including toys for the pediatric ward at SMC, as well as provisions for NBA Homes in St. Louis and Edmond, and the Woodheaven Learning Center in Columbia, Missouri.
• Financial assistance for Central Oklahoma Christian Camp in Guthrie.
• Assistance to the less fortunate through the Salvation Army and Payne County Sheltered Workshop.
• Hosting international students.
• Money for the Payne County Youth Service.
• Cards and visits to the sick and elderly.
• Volunteer assistance to the Red Cross, Stillwater Medical Center, Mobile Meals, Project Heart, and others.
• Collection of eye glasses, frames, lenses, and carrying cases for delivery to Latin America once each year.

Other Activities

DW/CWF are seemingly limitless, but some other activities include:

• A reading plan which provides balanced reading assignments and encourages every woman's growth through reading.
• Preparation of wedding receptions at the church.

This groups includes all men of First Christian Church. They meet at 7:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month, in the small Fellowship Hall, for breakfast, devotions and fellowship.  The Chairman is Tom Ikard, (405)624-9516
